ABOUT

Bronwen Newbury

An Australian landscape artist whose work captures the beauty, atmosphere and spirit of the coast.

Bronwen’s Story

Bronwen Newbury is a full time, lifelong artist. Her distinctive landscapes and playful beach scenes have been widely collected across Australia and New Zealand for more than four decades.

Her work draws on the many charms of her home in Albany, on Western Australia’s south coast. Beachside walks, mountain hikes and swims in the bay are daily inspirations, while regular travel fuels her palette.

Wherever there’s shifting light and atmosphere, she finds her muse.

Working mostly in acrylic, Bronwen’s style is versatile and highly relatable, moving seamlessly between landscape and figurative paintings.

Balancing abstraction with representation, her work is celebrated for its deft colour and composition, and its ability to capture feeling.

Bronwen has garnered many awards and accolades throughout her career, and has participated in several artist residencies. She is a regular exhibitor at Stafford Gallery in Perth, The Studio Gallery in Yallingup and Black Stump Gallery in Broome.

She studied Fine Art in Perth and Scotland. A qualified trainer, Bronwen also teaches occasional workshops in her home studio and gallery overlooking Middleton Bay.

“Beachside walks, mountain hikes and swims in the bay are daily inspirations.”
